Ferroseed and Ferrothorn

The first grass/steel pokemon is a pretty interesting organism. I always love a creature that's just a shell, ball or pod with eyes and/or spines, and Ferroseed is basically one of those prickly hitch-hiking seeds, a "burr," which is something I always thought would make a neat basis for a pokemon.

Oddly enough, though, Ferrothorn doesn't do a whole lot for me. I definitely appreciate that this prickly, saucer-shaped thing is just a very strange plant monster, but I guess I'm not as big a fan of its tentacles. If it had to have limbs, I feel as if they could have looked a little better.

It's definitely cool when Ferrothorn walks on those things, like some alien tripod, and the pokedex says it suspends itself from cave ceilings to drop down on prey. This plant is subterranean? I guess if it's predatory, it doesn't so much need sunlight, and as a bonus, this hunting tactic is shared by innumerable Dungeons and Dragons monsters. It's Pokemon's Lurker Above!

While not a top personal favorite, I'm going to give this spiny plant pod a five.
