The Starly Family

Starly is the early-game normal/flying of the generation, and I'm not sure why it isn't just fan lingo to call all these things "early birds," so that's what we're going to do from here on out. Starly is, of course, a starling, and a pretty nice little bird design.

Not much to say about Staravia, the middle kid, except that we know from past experience where this is going; this is already looking a lot fiercer than just any adult starling.

Right in the name, Staraptor is a starling reimagined as a huge, lethal bird of prey, just like Swellow and arguably Pigeotto. It's still such a neat concept that almost every generation has both its cute little native tweety-bird and screaming, taloned deathbird and one just evolves from the other. Design-wise, Staraptor is pretty nice looking, even if I'm not sure exactly what they were going for with that pompadour thing.

We've seen this before, but it's a pattern I enjoy.
