   Designed to accompany and protect adolescents, the Despire can calm unruly children or terrify would-be predators with a psychosignal that "inverts" the emotions of targets between positive and negative sensations. Attackers may find themselves only giggling as the monster slices into them with its retractable bone-blades, usually aiming for the belly or groin.

  Most of a Despire's body is extremely soft and squishy, its rudimentary skeleton composed mostly of cartilage under a thick, spongy skin.
