APHIDOIDEA SAPIENS

CLASS: ARTHROPOID

Small, fragile and almost suicidally docile, these simple-minded arthropoids desire only to feed continuously on the fluids found in large plants, regularly excreting syrupy, sugar-rich fecal gel from their dorsal nozzles. Producing both eggs and sperm internally, aphid arthropoids are perpetually pregnant and born with new offspring already in development.

Many other creatures, especially other arthropoids, find the excrement of these monsters an irresistible meal, and may protect them from carnivores in exchange for a regular taste of the sickly-sweet ooze.

BASE ORGANISM: aphids or "plant lice" are common and tenacious garden pests, their constant reproduction and overwhelming numbers their first line of defense again predators. Famously, their secretion of "honeydew" is attractive enough to many ant species that they are often found in mutually symbiotic relationships.
