THE BLITZMON FAMILY

HUMAN/ADULT: BLITZMON

Our third main character is a kid who carries part of the spirit of Ancientbeetlemon, but for some reason, he skips the child stage to evolve straight into this adult-level beetle guy. By the standards of the armored humanoids we've been seeing, it deserves some automatic points for being an insect guy. By the standards of other insect digimon, however, it's as boring as they come.

RATING:

BEAST/PERFECT: BOLGMON

The next evolutionary stage is significantly better, though it doesn't really say "beast" to me. It's pure robot and obviously no Megakabuterimon, but as far as robot digimon go, it's decently chunky and its ability to roll around on its knees is a neat little feature kind of classic to various other Japanese mecha.

RATING:

ULTIMATE: RHINOKABUTERIMON

And just like that, in the midst of all these Teenage Mutant Cyber Furries, we're thrown one of the stranger and more monstrous looking of the rare and precious arthropod digimon, a HUGE monstrosity with virtually no visible face, chitinous dragon frills and interestingly interlocked horns. Shouldn't this actually be the beast form, and Bolgmon the final fused form? I'm glad it's not, of course. It never appeared in the anime and it's still only tied to this otherwise underwhelming evolutionary line, but I think it would make an acceptable ultimate stage for a lot of orphaned bug types in the series.
