OROCHIMON

With the armor evolutions finished for now, we've got a lot of catching up to do with some other miscellaneous digimon. Did I really skip this one completely? Even though we talked about the fusion between Leomon and Orochimon? I really am not great at this.

Orochimon is based, of course, on the mythical Orochi, a legendary multi-headed serpent of titanic size and power. Its digimon form is as cool looking as it could have been, too; the central, organic snake is already stylish enough with its interlocking, blocky jaws, but all of its additional heads are cybernetic enhancements, which is a downright ingenious way to make a digimon-style orochi. Like many classic cyborg digimon, it's a Perfect level, though this unfortunately means that it's left "stranded" without an intended Ultimate level.

You have to also admire the fact that they didn't just give this snake a bunch of identical extra heads. There are three different pairs of them with completely different faces, and a final extra head with a more distinct dragon-like appearance. I like how the "original," biological head is flanked by cyborg heads actually modeled on it, too.

Orochimon also has one of the most amusing signature moves of any dragon digimon, and a mythology reference to boot! The orochi was actually defeated by alcohol in one famous tale, unable to resist an enormous vat of sake, and Orochimon's "Sake Breath" attack releases a cloud of alcoholic vapor to intoxicate its opponents!
