INT/DAY. DAUGHTER's bedroom

DAUGHTER's bedroom is a white simple room, with few personal objects to complete it.

The most notable furniture is a desk with a computer on it.

DAUGHTER is sitting on her bed, reading a book.

MOM opens the door, and looks at the room, her face half hidden behind the door.

MOM

My child?

DAUGHTER, not looking up, turns her back to her.

MOM enters the room. She has been crying.

MOM

I need to have a word with you.

DAUGHTER doesn't move.

MOM

Please, if you don't want to say anything, can you at least listen to me?

Still reading, DAUGHTER walks to her computer, puts on headphones and launches a loud song.

MOM walks to the computer's plug and pulls it.

DAUGHTER let out a sigh of frustration, but finally looks at MOM.

MOM

It's about your FATHER.

DAUGHTER

I know that. What about him?

MOM

He just hit me in the stomach. He was aiming for my ribs, I think.

DAUGHTER

Again? You should know how to avoid him by now, don't you think?

Or even better, kick him back! He barely ever come close to me now.

MOM (In a scream of frustration)

Does it matter? Do you really think this is how we should live?

DAUGHTER groans.

DAUGHTER
And what do you suggest we should do?

MOM

Can you...Can you help me ... Kill him?

DAUGHTER(sighs)

Mom...

MOM

You wouldn't have to do the actual, err, action. I can manage it on my own.

But I need some help to get rid of him afterwards.

DAUGHTER

Mom.

MOM

It won't take long, I promise. One hour at most.

DAUGHTER (losing patience)

Mom, stop!

MOM

Hey, I know! We could get pizzas on the way back, I-"

DAUGHTER(screaming)

SERIOUSLY MOM, STOP THAT!!

Hearing that scream, MOM froze in place.

DAUGHTER takes a few seconds to calm down.

DAUGHTER (in a calmer tone, but still annoyed)

Look, we know it doesn't work. He came back every time we tried.

MOM doesn't say anything, she is just looking at DAUGHTER with tears running down her face.

DAUGHTER stands up and starts walking to the door.

DAUGHTER:

I'm going out for a walk. Don't know if I'll be home for dinner.

(in a softer voice)

You can use my computer if you want to.

DAUGHTER has left the room.

A wail, similar to a slowed down, melting sea lion scream, can be heard from another room.

MOM sits on the bed, hands hiding her face.
