| Monster Party is an awesome, awesome little game that compensates for its average gameplay with its twisted sense of humor and strange, strange enemies. You play Mark, a little boy whisked away by a friendly gargoyle named Bert to help save monster world with his almighty baseball bat (which can knock projectiles back at enemies). If Mark finds a special pill, he can temporarily transform into Bert and fly around shooting energy blasts.
There are eight levels in Monster Party, each with two to three bosses (hidden behind doors) who must be defeated to progress to the next stage. What makes the game truly unique, though, are the strange phrases each boss shouts before battle.
Interestingly, screenshots in certain old gaming magazines reveal a much darker, gorier game than the version that was finally released. The known differences include a rotting head instead of the start screen's pumpkin cursor, blood in place of green slime, and the giant spider boss seems to have originally been a spider-legged zombie face.

|I've repositioned the word bubble on a few of them, when it would normally cover up the boss's face or most of its body, and I've stuck all three forms of the shrimp attack boss in the same shot to make things easier. ALSO, I have an "issue" of the utmost importance (sooo very utmost) that I'd like to get out in the open: every single website out there claims that the pre-killed boss of level one is the first encounter with the Giant Spider, and while the manual does list it as "Giant Spider", I beieve this is an error. The "boss" doesn't look in any way like the corpse of a spider, giant or otherwise - it's just a nondescript reptilian beastie lying on its side and nothing more than a (brilliant) joke.|
