The standard Z-series combat unit, the Protector is more stable than the Mangler and more durable than the Harvester, though its simple brain leaves it only as intelligent as its commander. Lacking any sense of self preservation, it may throw itself into danger to protect even the most expendable worker-drones or whatever passersby it mistakes for an ally.

  In addition to the standard Z-series saw and cutting laser, the Protector's arms double as powerful energy cannons.
