Neither entirely plant nor entirely animal, the Widoweed emits hypnotic pheromones from its blossom that males of every species find irresistible. Victims of the lure fail to see the creature's true form, perceiving it only as their most ideal mate even as her thorny trap snaps shut and bubbling digestive juices surge from her mouth. These creatures move by bouncing on their fused legs, and can sometimes achieve an impressive leap or even glide short distances.

   Widoweed were discovered only centuries ago in the crumbling ruins of a tropical island, and are directly connected with the civilization's collapse. When the island's tyrannical queen discovered her husband's secret love affair, she had the other woman transformed into a monster of her own design and presented it to him as a deadly anniversary gift. So pleased was the queen with her creation that she allowed it to multiply until men had been completely eradicated. The queen would eventually die in an uprising, but the fate of the isolated culture had been sealed. So strong is the collective aroma of the remaining Widoweed colony that centuries worth of shipwrecks can be found on the island's shores.
