WEBBAT - the Spider Fingers

CLASS: BIOCONSTRUCT

Engineered by vampires as catacomb sentries, this Chiropteran mutant pre-dates the perfection of Arthropoid monsters and was designed to recreate the skills of a spider at a larger size, its spindly phalanges secreting a variety of specialized adhesive silks for the incapacitation of prey and ease of locomotion up vertical surfaces. Lacking a naturally venomous bite, paralyzing toxins are produced by symbiotic bacteria in specialized armpit cavities, smeared onto its fangs and nails before engaging prey.

Webbat unfortunately exhibit an almost universal terror of true arachnids and arachnoid monsters, a baffling psychological flaw that has never been successfully bred out. They have learned independently to emit a precise ultrasonic frequency most Araneae find intolerable.
