This lazy vampire generates fast-moving "worms" in its flesh to seek out blood for miles around. When the Scumwort croaks its eerie song at dawn, its offspring - hopefully swollen with blood - return to their creator and allow themselves to be consumed. It typically excavates its slimy lair in the roots of a tree, especially overhanging the edge of a river or pond. Though eyeless, it can see through the eyes of normal frogs and toads in its territory.
