NOCTURTLE - The Shelled Vampire

CLASS: VAMPIRIC

Roughly the size of a bus, these reptilian vampires are actually colonial organisms, playing host to a mutant strain of parasitic barnacle (not to be confused with the Barnagoose, a vampire in itself) which form the beast's shell. Larvae produced by these barnacles infest the bodies of other lifeforms and enslave them to the Nocturtle's will, with smaller victims simply swallowed whole. Once their host is drained completely of blood and of no further use, the barnacles metamorphose and migrate to the Nocturtle's outer skin.

The largest and most ancient known Nocturtle supports an entire small island upon its back, "farming" its own prey in the form of a primitive, cannibalistic human colony.
