Ranging from a few inches to just over two feet in height, the Chernoblab's small size offers unique advantages over its larger, tougher cousin the Chernoblench; silently scurrying up behind large prey, it uses its intense short-range microwaves to burn its way directly into the body, suckling upon dissolved tissues as it tunnels agonizingly through flesh and bone. It eventually makes its way to the brain, its favorite treat, before finally erupting from the victim's cranium.
Without the "pruning" effect of its energy output, a Chernoblab's facial tissues fuse into a suffocating, featureless callus. Despite their close relation, Chernoblab and Chernoblench are not averse to preying upon one another, and encounters between the two may end in mutual liquefaction.
