SILPHINAE SAPIENS

CLASS: ARTHROPOID

These small, ravenous arthropoids are easily excited by the smell of rotting meat, to the point of disregarding the safety of themselves or others for a taste of their favorite meal. It is not the carrion the monsters crave, but fly larvae and other natural insect scavengers.

BASE ORGANISM: Silphinae are one of the two major groups of Silphid carrion beetles, and colonize animal carcasses primarily to feed upon maggots. Adults masticate maggots into a fine paste, which they regurgitate for their own larvae.
